Spring has finally sprung here in the DMV (not the Dept. of Motor Vehicles….lol…DC-MD-VA for those of you that didn’t know)! One of my favorite 2 seasons for sure! The colors are the absolute best, and this fashion trend is all the rage (do people say that anymore?) for spring 2015.
I will be completely honest and tell you that I wouldn’t have been caught dead in anything with flowers on it even 3 years ago, BUT thanks to fashion forward designers, this trend is now in my closet! Florals can be very feminine and classy, but can also be overwhelming if it’s not done right. Check out a couple of these looks that I put together. And tell me, are you loving the floral trend yet? Do you despise it? How do you wear florals? Let’s talk! Chime in down below 🙂
And now that you’ve got your sass for the day, here’s a little substance for you. I wanted to start with something simple, but yet so complex. Have you ever met someone that alwaaaaaays seems to happy? You either wish you knew their secret or you’re annoyed by this person. I tend to feel the former. I want to know how I too can be as happy as this happy being. It seems like life would be much easier this way. I’m not sure if I’ve mastered it yet (maybe we should ask my fiance…haha), but I try my darndest to strive for it. So here’s some things that I do to incorporate more happiness into my life. Some of it might be common sense, but repetition never hurt anyone 😉
1. Exercise! I try to work out at least 3 days a week, but usually more. Endorphins are real my loves. Even if I struggled to get to the gym, I always feel good when I leave.
2. Read a daily devotional or positive affirmations in the morning. Seriously, waking up to positive words can help make your entire day better.
3. Say good morning to people. I actually heard a speaker (can’t remember his name) say that he consciously makes an effort to say good morning to everyone that he encounters in the morning (with a smile). You never know who’s day you will make, and when you make someone’s day, you will feel good too.
4. Practice smiling! If there’s an event that I don’t really want to attend, I will suck it up and when I enter the door, there’s a smile plastered on my face. Eventually, I feel better, and people around me feel good too.
These are just some of the things that I do, and there are soooo many other things that can be done to cultivate happiness. Here’s a link to an article called “39 Habits of Extremely Happy People” : http://www.inc.com/peter-economy/39-habits-of-extremely-happy-people.html
Practice as many as you can, and I wish you beautifully happy days to come (with flowers on top!…hehehe)
P.S. As I was ending this post, I felt led to tell you this: If you find yourself on social media excessively gauging your happiness compared to others, please stop. I could go on and on about that, but many of those people are not as happy as you think, and becoming depressed because your life isn’t as good as theirs is not worth it.
